Exide Technologies Production Supervisor - Columbus, GA in Columbus, Georgia


This position requires a person who is self motivated, can handle multiple tasks while working with others, and exhibits an uncompromising pursuit of perfection that results in performance excellence.

This person will coordinate and direct the activities of several manufacturing teams engaged in the production of assemblies and finished product. This position will be a direct supervisor to a team of manufacturing associates. Production Supervisors may be responsible for multiple manufacturing areas for a defined shift.

This position requires a person with a desire to experience manufacturing in a plant environment and would have an Engineering degree or equivalent experience. It is expected that this individual will require a minimum level of supervision, will have a high degree of decision making latitude.


Manufacturing Operations

  • Coordinate production activities using a priority based focus to ensure teams achieve daily Safety, Quality, Production, and 5S goals.

  • Perform daily safety, quality and 5S audits.

  • Document abnormalities, and take immediate corrective action as required.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Monitor and track department production performance, document abnormalities and take immediate corrective action as required.

  • Issue accurate and detailed shift reports and escalate issues per procedures.

  • Perform and follow up on standard work audits, meeting goals/targets, and adherence to standards.

  • Administer personnel actions (disciplinary, status changes, performance reviews, accident reports, time records, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain equipment Standard Operating Procedures and Process Work Instructions.

  • Develop, maintain, and update trouble shooting documents to be utilized by production personnel.

  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is maintained to comply with all environmental and health and safety requirements.

Manufacturing Excellence Leadership and Support

  • Provide training to production operators in lean and waste elimination concepts.

  • Provide feedback to employees to develop and improve their performance.

  • Recognize employees for good performance using programs provided.

  • Lead/participate in standardized work.

  • Promote Lean Manufacturing concepts and support team Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement.



The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Engineering Degree preferred or equivalent experience.

  • Good communications, interpersonal and problem solving skills.

  • 5+ years of Equipment/Manufacturing experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Proficient in MS Office products.

  • Allen Bradley PLC, and Robot programming experience preferred.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Higher preferred.

  • Lean Manufacturing Fundamentals knowledge preferred.

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • Follow all health and safety practices as they apply to work and the facility

To perform this job successfully an individual must be willing to work extended hours at times, shift schedules, and weekends as required to meet customer demand, observe and solve problems to root cause.


Minimal Travel Expected (1-4 times per year)
