Exide Technologies Quality Systems Specialist in Fort Smith, Arkansas

Overview

This is a 6 month Contract position with Exide Technologies at $30 per hour.

The Customer Quality Specialist will work with the various departments within the Facility and outside agencies to ensure timely and permanent resolution to customer quality concerns, supporting problem solving activities, risk analysis, continuous monitoring to improve customer experience, and Facilty adherence to both the ISO 9001 quality system and the ISO 14001 environmental system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all document control within the facility

  • Maintain quality records per ISO standards

  • Help to institute, revise, and update plant documents as necessary

  • Maintain ECO’s and deviations database and assist corporate engineering as needed

  • Collect and present data, to include testing data, in a consistent and orderly manner

  • Schedule and coordinate internal audits

  • Work in a team environment to problem solve customer concerns and complaints and audit finding resolution

  • Examine special order requests and communicate those requests to QA Engineer or QA Tech as needed.

  • While performing the duties of this job the individual is occasionally required to vary their schedules times and shifts

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Certifications:

  • Minimum of 2-year degree in technical field such as engineering, mathematics, or physics

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in industrial manufacturing environment with ISO systems or related areas of responsibility

  • Experience working in a union manufacturing plant and / or in a battery or charger manufacturing facility a plus

  • Preferance given for an ISO lead auditor certification but must be able to attain ISO lead auditor certification

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge:

  • Self motivated and able to succeed without direct supervision

  • Proficient in problem solving through root cause analysis, 5 why, and other similar processes

  • Knowledgeable in Six-Sigma and Lean tools

  • Knowledgeable in ISO/ TS16949 quality standards; Control Plans, FMEAs, and PPAPs

  • Strong computer skills in Windows- and Microsoft-based programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, individual is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Individual is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to occassionally lift a minimum 25 lbs and 26 to 150 lbs with assistance of equipment. Regular use of safety glasses and steel toed shoes. Limited use of respirator. Vision requirements: close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Individual occassionally exposed to precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. Noise level is minimal to loud

Regularly is working in a lead contaminated area and must wear a uniform and safety shoes in that area to prevent the tracking and / or possible lead contamination of other clean areas or outside or the regulated areas

May require some travel in North America
