Exide is seeking a Principle Network Engineer who can accomplish the following goals over the next 2-years:
Support critical acquisitions, mergers and divestitures from a network architecture standpoint along with data center moves. Over the next 12 to 24 months you will have an opportunity to work on some really cool business impacting projects that will shape Exide Infrastructure globally.
Standardize manufacturing and field network infrastructure while assessing workloads in public or hybrid cloud.
Add resiliency for all infrastructure components. You’ll map the network, identifying areas of risk and solutions to remedy in a proactive manner within the next 12-24 months. This resiliency and standardization will ultimately lead to a end goal of stability & Up-time for the business.
The person who succeeds in this role positions themselves for a manager-level opportunity. But, you must be technically proficient and willing to get your hands dirty doing the grunt work. Your peer in Europe is sharp – you’ll need to be their equivalent or better in order to provide them back-up support while pushing the North American business to meet or exceed the benchmark set in Europe.
To be successful, you might have worked in retail store configuration environments. You likely enjoy a mixture of operational/day to day challenges but have experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or divestitures (project-based assignments). The Principle Network Engineer is a Subject Matter Expert for all networking infrastructure. The Principle network engineer is also primarily responsible for identifying, prioritize, and resolve critical network related issues that impact critical business operations. In addition, the principle engineer proactively seeks to communicate solutions to network related issues and preferred emerging technologies that can be used to improve the overall health of the company LAN/WAN networks. The Engineer will work closely with IT Management to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions.

Firewalls (Cisco ASA /ZScalar/Barracuda)
Load Balancers (F5 LTM)
Primary responsibility to develop, design, implement and maintain network / telephony infrastructure and security to support all identified business needs, including VOIP telephony system
Works with Geographically dispersed Infrastructure teams to ensure that network hardware and software infrastructure is maintained with the latest firmware and software requirements.
Manages basic and expedited support to resolve all networking related issues
Ensure High Availability & resiliency for all networking components and connections.
Troubleshoots and resolves all expedited issues impacting the customers’ challenges and needs
Proactively communicate the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues
Monitors and reports the performance of network components against KPIs and takes preemptive measures to minimize interruptions
Identifies opportunities and recommends solutions for improving the overall network health by assessing overall effectiveness and efficiency
Evaluates new technologies and platforms to determine whether their applicability aligns with businesses needs
Design configures and installs network devices like Cisco Switches
Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of wireless access points and Management of wireless controller.
Manage the provision of services provided by outsourced providers ensure an effective practice for asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, software, and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Identify operational weaknesses within the existing network infrastructure and present execution plans to overcoming those concerns in a timely fashion while still making the most cost-efficient use of resources.
Work to complete all projects assigned and exhausts all possible resources in order to provide results on time, within specifications, and on budget
Actively monitor and react to real-time network conditions and make recommendations on improving monitoring and reporting.
Document IT activities such as incidents and system changes with regular participation in change control activities.
Ensure appropriate policies and operational procedures exist and are in line with industry best practices.
Regularly interact with team members to assist in troubleshooting, and transfer of knowledge in an effort to cross-pollinate others with the required knowledge to effectively support.
Ensure accurate and non-impactful changes are implemented in the production environment by working with technical services storage resources
Able to identify, prioritize, and solve complex network-related problems
Able to work in a fast paced complex and dynamic environment
Poise under pressure and comfort with ambiguity
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of routing environment especially with CISCO equipment
Experience with configuration and maintenance of network equipment from multiple vendors, including Cisco
Experience with wired and wireless LAN technologies, focusing on Ethernet
Experience with WAN, Knowledge of service provider MPLS, DMVPN, SDWAN and Internet VPN.
Knowledge and experience deploying and maintaining network QoS on local and wide area networks.
Experience with IP network security technologies including network firewalls, application proxies, and intrusion detection and prevention and network access control
Experience with enterprise network management systems and protocols such as SNMP including system containers and VM’s.
Understanding and experience with distributed role-based access control systems as applied to network infrastructure
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
In-depth knowledge of the OSI model
B.S. in computer science / information systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
10 or more years of progressively responsible experience
Understanding of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.
Manufacturing Experience preferred and/or familiarity with Enterprise Geographically dispersed networks.
Experience with Amazon EC2, VPC, and Security Object and or Microsoft Azure groups Desired.
Experience with Software Defined Networking
Experience and knowledge of Storage Area Networking (ISCSI, Fiber-Channel)
Experience with web applications a plus
Professional certification such as the CCDP, CCNP, CCNA, or CCDE with an emphasis on switching, datacenters and/or security.
