Exide Technologies Environment, Health, and Safety Supervisor in Muncie, Indiana
This position will be responsible to review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and assist in the design of programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent environmental non-compliance. Duties will include, but not be limited to: Assess and evaluate plant conditions for environmental compliance, conduct or manage inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing environmental requirements. The EHS Supervisor develops and maintains proficiency in technical matters related to the environment with a focus on permit & regulatory compliance.

Assist in the leading of the plant environmental program and drive positive environmental culture.
Attend, complete, or conduct training or programs related to environmental requirements.
Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning and execution.
Maintain and work within department budget. Support plant financial objectives.
Conduct mandated employee environmental training programs as required by the EHS Training Matrix (RCRA, Storm Water, SPCC, etc.)
Calibration and maintenance of air and water sampling equipment
Collection of air and water samples in line with an established ASP.
Submission of samples for analysis in accordance with established procedures.
Recommend sampling methods, strategies and help establish priorities.
Assist in the investigation of employee complaints related to EHS.
Provide assistance to the engineering team for new manufacturing process, construction, demolition and renovation activities.
Review and approve sampling procedures, records, and data prior to sample submittal.
Provide regulatory knowledge and scientific expertise to allow the company to maintain and secure environmental regulatory approvals.
Develop and/or review the permits application plan
Manage Title V requirements and applications including assistance for BACT, CEMS, Fugitive, emission calculations, RCRA, SPCC and NESHAP regulations.
Responsible for preparing and submitting all environmental & safety reporting to include Title V, Annual Tier 2, and Air Emissions.
Responsible for managing all aspects of the hazardous waste program.
Represent the company on permit applications.
Assist in the preparation of permit applications, including gathering supporting documentation, conducting environmental assessments, and coordinating comment response to agencies.
Create technical documents and provide review of technical documents that support regulatory submissions.
Communicate and collaborate with other environmental and regulatory specialists to ensure consistency in project execution.
Ability to develop and implement site requirements to conform to Exide ESHMS compliance.
Ability to generate environmental scope of work for environmental sub-contractors.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A Bachelor degree in Environmental Science or related field. Will also consider Associates degree with 8-10 years directly related experience
Prefer 3-5 years industrial EHS experience.
Working knowledge of EPA/State Regulations.
Proficient with MS Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Word)
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and extreme heat and humidity.
While some work will be performed in an office setting, the majority of the time the employee will be required to be in the manufacturing facility, where additional exposure is likely.
Employees may be required to wear a respirator inside the manufacturing facility.
Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort.
